Here's what it is for us:
My/Our whole life is dedicated to figuring out how to bring redemption (hope, love, joy, peacemaking) to this world. That's one of the reasons I love the church when it is done right, because that's what it's all about. I'm starting to find that this business allows us to bring redemption to two of the major areas of people's lives - health and finances. Through this business we are given the opportunity to get people to start respecting themselves and their Maker by treating their body right (through eating right, exercising, and supplementation). We also have the opportunity to give some hope to people when it comes to finances. This business, when done correctly, will make you money.
So, the primary "WHY?" for us to be doing USANA is because we're given a stellar opportunity to make a huge difference in this world - to bring redemption to people's lives.
WHAT IS YOUR WHY???
2. This business is all about relationships. Some people like to build this business by setting up huge email marketing campaigns and create lead capture pages and draw in hundreds of people into a website explaining their business so that a couple might call them and want some more information. Now I am not discarding the power of social networking and using it to build our business. However, I do know that what we've experienced so far is that if people see that you're truly passionate about this business, and that you are truly genuine about their well being, they are MUCH more susceptible to opening up to the opportunity that USANA presents. It's all about talking to people! Talk to the people you haven't talked to in a while. See how their doing. Genuinely seek to grow your relationship. 100% of the time it will lead to a conversation about money or health or jobs or hobbies. Use these topics of conversation to ease the USANA opportunity into their lives. Talk to people you don't know. Start building relationships with people. The more they know and trust you, the more they are going to let you come into their life and possibly help them out in some of their areas of need.
TALK TO PEOPLE!!!
3. Check out these two verses I read tonight in Proverbs:
22:4 "The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life."
22:29 "Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men."
Unbelievable insight! The first talks about how to get three things that we ALL desire: riches, honor, and life. And it tells us how to get those things: humility and fear of the Lord. I don't have a firm grasp on either of those two things, but I sure am willing to try to figure it out if those rewards will follow. Our USANA business must be characterized by these two things, and a natural outpouring of riches, honor, and life will be the result.
The second gave me chills down my spine. It spoke to the very depths of my soul. Let me speak to the men for a second. We men were created to work. This is what we spend a majority of our lives doing, and it is what gives us a major part of our purpose in life. Now all of us men desire to have a great purpose in life. We always look at things outside of what we're currently doing. This verse, however, speaks brilliantly of how much honor and purpose resides in just being skillful in our "work". Let's be skillful at this "work"! Let's do it in a way that is worthy for us to stand before "kings" with honor and dignity.
Sorry for such a long posting. I've just been thinking a ton tonight and wanted to share it with you guys.
Thanks Matt for the insights. My only problem I can see with all of this is I am shy when it comes to talking to new people. This is my biggest hurdle, and something I work on all the time. I guess this will make me stronger and humble myself. Having had BC has taught me humility in the biggest way. Relying on God to heal me and giving it all to him was a really hard thing for me to do. But I had no choice. I think the experience will help me to grow our business. Thank you for including me and Daniel in on our venture.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a very valid concern. I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way, and still do some times. I often have a really difficult time talking to somebody I don't know. But what I've found is that this business has helped to obliterate that from my life. Over the past month or so I've begun to really open up to people. I'm so grateful for this byproduct of this business! I've always wanted to be able to talk to people better. I think it is an essential part of life.
ReplyDeleteOnce you develop your why, I think you will start to look past those fears you have about talking to new people. If your why is big enough, you won't let something silly like this get in the way. Really think about that. And make a conscious effort every day to at least try to talk to one new person.
Ask what they do. Ask about their family. These two questions right here will lead into phenomenal conversations. And you don't always have to work USANA into every single conversation you have. But if you see an opportunity to, then take it. We're not in the business to bug people, remember that. We are in the business to help people and bring a bit of hope and redemption into their lives.
Hope that addresses your concern.
